Trading in Stocks with Greta Shrake ’27

During the summer, St. Cecilia students have opportunities locally to learn new skills and expand their understanding of economic areas. Montgomery Bell Academy offers a Wilson Grant summer finance class, Advanced Stock Market Strategies. We asked junior Greta Shrake about the experience and her thoughts on winning second prize at the all-boys school.

Greta decided to take the class to explore the stock market. She said, “I learned more about the stock market and different strategies that I could utilize in the future.”

During the eight-week class, she saw the process of buying and selling stocks and the theories behind how the market works. She explained, “It was interesting to see how the stock market fluctuated in general.” As the only girl in the class, she represented SCA with poise and confidence.

MBA invited her to a school assembly on October 20 to accept her award and a $150 gift card to Amazon. When she became aware of placing second, she added, “I was proud of myself, and enjoyed learning more about the market.” She recommends that others interested in the stock market consider the class.
