St. Cecilia Academy is proud to announce five Commended Students for the class of 2020.
This year’s commended scholars are Penelope Herrero-Marquez, Daisy Hollifield, Marisa Kelley, Kate Kemp, and Isabella Presler. These young women placed in the top 3% of the more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2020 National Merit Scholarship competition. They have demonstrated a consistent commitment to academic excellence at St. Cecilia through rigorous course-loads and dedication to their commitments in and outside of the classroom.

In addition to recognition as a Commended Scholar, Penelope Herrero-Marquez is named to the 2020 National Hispanic Recognition Program. Last Summer, Penelope attended Carnegie Mellon University's Summer Academy for Math and Science (SAMS), a six-week STEM program, where she received the EQT Academic Excellence Award.
