St. Cecilia Academy Student Named Regional and Distinguished Scholar

St. Cecilia Academy is pleased to announce that sophomore Farah Chen earned the 2025 CLT10 Regional Scholar Award and was named a Distinguished Scholar.
“We are very proud of Farah!” said Sister Elise Fox, O.P., Vice Principal of Academics at St. Cecilia Academy. “This is a rigorous test, challenging students to engage with primary sources and classic literature. Farah's accomplishment speaks to how thoroughly she has embraced the liberal arts education we offer at St. Cecilia Academy.”

Chen is an all-around St. Cecilia student, participating in clubs, athletics, and the arts. She is the treasurer of Forensics and a member of the Robotics team. Chen plays varsity lacrosse and enjoys creating and engaging with the visual arts, such as drawing and painting. Outside of SCA, she works with Room in the Inn and helps with other service needs at Christ the King church. Chen spent her summer conducting research at the University of California – San Diego as part of the Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) program, studying silicon nanotechnology. She has been working on MRSEC’s educational resources, with her projects aiming to help high school students in California discover more about chemistry and physics. When Chen learned that she had been recognized by the CLT10 organization, she said, “I was shocked and honored to receive such an award, and I am grateful that I had the chance to take the CLT.”  She is a graduate of St. Bernard Academy and a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.

Sister Elise remarked, “It is a joy to have Farah in our building every day, and I look forward to witnessing her continued growth in intellectual and moral virtue.”

The Classic Learning Test 10 (CLT10) serves as a college preparatory exam for 9th and 10th graders and is an alternative to the PSAT. The Regional Scholar Award is given to those who scored within the top 5% of their geographic region during the 2024-2025 academic year. The Distinguished Scholar is awarded to the highest-performing student on the CLT10 at their respective school.
