St. Cecilia Academy News
The St. Cecilia Academy Fine Arts Department would like to shine a spotlight on our Featured Fine Artist, Nia Curry, '19. As a singer, actress, and forensics competitor, Nia has made a most outstanding contribution to the school in many areas.
Nia has provided exemplary leadership as president of the forensics team, while at the same time honing her own skills for immense success. This year alone, she received the Double Ruby award for special distinction from the National Speech and Debate Association and was the 2019 Tennessee High School Speech and Drama League state champion in program oral interpretation.
In addition to all of the above, Nia has been an active Theatre Guild member for both acting and tech, served as the production assistant for The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, and starred as Lucy in Snoopy.
"Nia is a charismatic personality in the SCA fine arts community, who has consistently contributed to the success of our SCA productions and the forensics team," says theater and forensics director, Mrs. Cathie Correia Stamps. "I especially thank Nia for completing many, many tasks for me—and always with a smile and a positive demeanor—as production assistant."
Nia's favorite actress is Lupita Nyong'o, her favorite artist is Beyoncé, her favorite color is pink, and she loves sour gummy worms! Nia will attend Spelman College in the fall.
