St. Cecilia Academy News
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (January 29, 2019) —The St. Cecilia Academy Department of Music is pleased to announce three choir students from our Junior class have been selected to participate in prestigious festivals this Spring.
Chelsea Dongas and Julie Khym, nominated by SCA Choir Director, Stephanie Hahn Nolan, have been selected for an exciting choral experience in New York City. Julie and Chelsea each prepared an Italian art song, submitted videos, and received acceptance by the High School Honors Performance Series. From February 7 – 11, they will rehearse and perform at Carnegie Hall under the direction of master conductors! The Honors Performance organization selects students from an international pool of applicants to work together at this advanced level, and to make new friends with their fellow musicians in the process. In addition to hard work and an unforgettable performance, Chelsea and Julie will see the sights of New York City, and attend a Broadway show.
Jennie Mae Sprouse has also been selected to a prestigious choir from among auditions from all over our country. She will participate in the 2019 National Honor Choir with the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). Jennie Mae will travel to Kansas City at the end of February for this amazing musical experience. In addition, she will head for Budapest and Prague this summer with the Vanderbilt University Blair Children's Choir.
We are extremely proud of these three girls for their many accomplishments and dedication to beautiful singing! Congratulations!
