Scarab Nation Athlete of the Week: Sydney Baird
Sydney Baird is the Scarab Nation Athlete of the Week. Sydney is a junior and starting infielder on the varsity softball team. When asked about Sydney, head coach Meghan McKeown said, "Sydney shows up to practice each day with a great attitude. During games, Sydney is always taking lead out on the field and spreading positive energy. She is a great teammate both on and off the field and demonstrates great sportsmanship. Sydney is a prominent role model who's cheerfulness radiates onto the entire team. This past week, Sydney went 3-4 in our game against Ensworth with 1 RBI." We sat down with Sydney to find out what makes her such a great teammate and leader.
Question: How long have you been playing this sport?
Answer: This is my third year.
Question: What do you love most about this sport?
Answer: I love my teammates and the camaraderie that working together brings.
Question: Who is your biggest rival?

Answer: We always pray together as a team before each game.
Question: Do you have plans to compete collegiately?
Question: How close are you all as a team?
Answer: Very close, we are always laughing and cutting up together.
