St. Cecilia Academy placed fifth in the Davidson County High School Mock Trial Competition
St. Cecilia Academy sent two teams, the Red Team and the White Team, to participate in the Davidson County High School Mock Trial Competition, held on February 23 & 24, 2018, at the Metro Courthouse in Nashville. Of the eighteen teams that participated, the St. Cecilia Red Team placed fifth in the competition, our second placing in the top five in the last three years.
Moreover, junior Tess Scherrer (pictured middle) was chosen as "Best Defense Witness for Davidson County", marking the third time in four years that a St. Cecilia Academy student has been chosen for this honor. Senior Sophie Rowlett was chosen as MVP for the Red Team and junior Mary Grace Urbanczyk was chosen as MVP for the White Team.
The team wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Sister Anne Catherine, their families, their fellow students, and the faculty of SCA for their constant support, encouragement, and enthusiasm for our Mock Trial program. Attorney-coaches for the team are Teddie Clark (retired SCA Spanish teacher and former attorney), her husband, Don Dawson, Paula Godsey, DeAnn Kilpatrick, John Baroni (father of Corinne, class of 2018), Dalizza Marques (mother of Penelope, class of 2020), and Andy Rowlett (father of Sophie, class of 2018), with Kevin Kile as faculty sponsor.
