St. Cecilia Academy (SCA) is pleased to announce that three students, Catherine Johnson, Jule Voss and Caitrin Salem have been recognized for their outstanding achievement by the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program. Catherine and Jule have been named as Semifinalists, which means they will continue on to compete for the Finalist Scholarship that is awarded in the spring of 2019. Caitrin has been recognized as a National Merit Commended Student.

Amelia Johnston is the Scarab Nation Athlete of the Week. Amelia is a freshman and starting midfielder on the varsity soccer team. When asked about Amelia her coaches said, "Amelia is more than our leading scorer on the team. She plays with heart and aggression on every play. Even though she is usually the smallest player on the field, she has a big impact on the game." We sat down with Amelia to find out what makes her such an impactful player.

After the election in June of a new Prioress General and General Council for the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia, a new principal, has been named for St. Cecilia Academy.

Dominican Sisters attended Thomistic Institute conference on the Thomistic Philosophy and Natural Science in Washington D.C., where they discussed faith and science.

Rosie Robinson is the Scarab Nation Athlete of the Week. Rosie is a sophomore on the track team, runs everything from the 100-meter to the 800-meter and also competes in the high jump.

St. Cecilia Academy presents Concert for a Cause on Friday, May 4, 7-9 p.m. Featuring music by Father Kevin McGoldrick, Millie Kohl '18, Claire Ritter '19 and Bella McCormick '21. ​This concert is open to the public. ​All proceeds go to Mary's Meals.

Alex Strobel '18 reflects on the power of the arts in her journey of healing. St. Cecilia Academy's Seasons Dance Company will present Perspective on Friday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 14 at 1:30 p.m. This is an annual dance concert featuring student choreography. On Friday, March 9, Bishop J. Mark Spalding, Bishop of Nashville, Mother Ann Marie, O.P., Prioress General of the Dominican Sisters, and Sister Anne Catherine, O.P. Principal of St. Cecilia Academy, joined current students, parents, alumnae, and community in the St. Cecilia Academy courtyard to break ground for a new fine arts center.

St. Cecilia girls came away from the all-school retreat on February 28 inspired and encouraged by this year's featured retreat speaker, Emily Wilson. Emily Wilson is a Catholic author, speaker and artist who travels around the U.S. and the world, proclaiming her faith through worship ministry.

Kim Wolken Coakley is many things: a mother, grandmother, philanthropist, entrepreneur, and longtime friend and supporter of St. Cecilia and the Dominican Campus. The 2018 Gala will be held at the Hutton Hotel on Saturday, March 3, and will feature dinner and dancing with live music from the 12 South Band.

On Tuesday, January 23, St. Cecilia Academy senior Gracey Gallagher scored her 1,000th point at a home basketball game versus Harpeth Hall. Gracey is the seventh player in school's history to achieve this accomplishment.

Each January, students return to St. Cecilia after Christmas break in a unique and invigorating way through Interim. The objective of the Interim Program is to offer students non-traditional educational opportunities outside the regular school routine, including classes held on campus, trips abroad or to other U.S. cities, and internship experiences with a community mentor.

St. Cecilia Academy freshman Mary Frances Harrell recently earned the Girl Scout Silver Award. The Silver Award is the highest award available for achievement to a Cadette Girl Scout, grade six through eight. Girls work alone or in small groups to identify an issue/problem that they would like to work towards improving.

St. Cecilia Academy art students shared their talents with the Nashville community as they joined the T.J. Martell Foundation and the Gibson Foundation to participate in GuitarTown KIDS Nashville, an initiative that invited local high school students to design and decorate guitars for a community display and auction fundraising event coming up in February 2018.
