Each year one student is named Athlete of the Year in recognition of her outstanding performance, leadership, and dedication to St. Cecilia Academy's athletics program. The award is named in memory of Megan Elizabeth Whaley, a recipient of the Athlete of the Year award in 2002. This year's Athlete of the Year is Sarah Davis '20! Coach Picklesimer, Athletics Director had this to say about Sarah:
SCA got 10th overall in the women's division with a total of 89 points! A new SCA School record was set in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:55.97. Setting the School record for the 2nd time this season: Ava Cirigliano, Hannah Neilsen, Giselle Gonzalez, and Cindy Nguyen.
Shelby Mryncza is the Scarab Nation Athlete of the Week. Shelby is a junior and the #1 runner on the Varsity Cross Country team.
Amelia Johnston is the Scarab Nation Athlete of the Week. Amelia is a freshman and starting midfielder on the varsity soccer team. When asked about Amelia her coaches said, "Amelia is more than our leading scorer on the team. She plays with heart and aggression on every play. Even though she is usually the smallest player on the field, she has a big impact on the game." We sat down with Amelia to find out what makes her such an impactful player.
Macy Kosinski is the Scarab Nation Athlete of the Week. Macy is a sophomore and starting outside hitter on the JV Volleyball team.
Rosie Robinson is the Scarab Nation Athlete of the Week. Rosie is a sophomore on the track team, runs everything from the 100-meter to the 800-meter and also competes in the high jump.
Olivia McClure is the Scarab Nation Athlete of the Week. Olivia is a junior and the number one player on the tennis team this year.
Sydney Baird is the Scarab Nation Athlete of the Week. Sydney is a junior and starting infielder on the varsity softball team.
Claire Wehby is the Scarab Nation Athlete of the Week. Claire is a junior and starter on the varsity lacrosse team at SCA.
