St. Cecilia Academy Class of 2017 graduates with honors

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 2017) — Led by the 2017 St. Cecilia Girl, Valedictorian, and Salutatorian, the 70 graduating seniors of St. Cecilia Academy earned over $16.2 million in merit scholarships. These young women will attend 46 colleges across 22 states. Among the 150 college acceptances, the students were accepted to Boston College, Emory University, College of the Holy Cross, Howard University, New York University, Northwestern University, University of Notre Dame, University of Richmond, Stanford University, Wake Forest University, and Vanderbilt University.
The Class of 2017 will pursue college programs in fields as diverse as musical theatre, international relations, computer animation, pre-veterinary science, and nanotechnology. Three are recruited athletes in rowing, track, and volleyball. The members of this class have shown a deep commitment to service by completing over 2,430 service hours. One student received Vanderbilt’s prestigious Ingram Scholarship, a prestigious scholarship for service.

During their four years at St. Cecilia Academy, the Class of 2017 has excelled in various fields, from fine arts to STEM courses. Three students have qualified for the National Forensics tournament this summer, and the senior-led Robotics team placed second at the FIRST Tech Challenge regional competition. Six graduates are AP Scholars with Honor, 10 are AP Scholars, one student was named a National Merit Scholarship Finalist, one student was named a National Merit Scholarship Commended student, one student received MTVA All-State Honors Choir recognition, and three received MTVA Mid-State Honors Choir recognitions, and one student received a National Silver Key Scholastic Art Award in printmaking.
