Senior Privileges (by a senior)

Every school has a different way of showcasing their seniors, and Saint Cecilia is no exception. You can always point out who is a senior and who is not, whether it is because of the saddle oxfords with crazy colorful ribbons, or the bright yellow sweater. If you cannot tell from their physical appearance you can tell by their location in the morning, or at lunch. Alumni Hall, in the morning, is senior only territory. At lunch you will not find any yellow sweaters in the crowded lunch room you will find the on the couches, if its raining or if its cold, or you will find then outside enjoying the beautiful weather in the courtyard.

  At Saint Cecilia every first Friday we adore the blessed sacrament in adoration and, the seniors get to come to school out of uniform, another wonderful perk. May Procession

St. Cecilia Academy is rooted in Catholic tradition. One of the most beautiful traditions that we have at school is the crowning of Mary. This day is dedicated to celebrate our lady and the leaders of the school, the seniors. Throughout the day we have mass and then an outside ceremony where the sodality presidents has the great honor of crowning the statue of Mary followed by a mother daughter picnic. To commemorate the beginning of spring the seniors get to come in pastel or floral dresses with their choice of heels or flats, depending on the bravery of the senior.We begin with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass where father O’Neil celebrates the sacrament of the Eucharist, and the choir singing their classic mass hymns, the only difference is the added guests. After Mass someone will lead the crowd in the rosary as the freshman form an honor guard outside to direct all guests to the grotto, where the statue of Mary is found. Interim Classes: Highlights

  Interim is a wonderful way to ease back into school life, i.e. getting back to an acceptable sleep schedule, while taking classes that make getting out of bed bearable. This year a wonderful array of classes were offered. We were able to get the highlights of the week from six excited underclassmen.

Daisy Hollifield told us that her favorite class was Finding your Voice with Ms. Nolan. She says that before the class she didn’t like singing by herself in front of crowds, but after taking it she said that “I sing solos a lot!” During the class she sang “How far I’ll Go” from Disney’s Moana, and can’t thank “all of the supportive, caring, and wonderful people” enough for the opportunity. Penelope Herrero-Marques, used her talents for science. She particularly enjoyed Explaining Einstein, taught by guest Sister Albertine. She thought it was interesting because she was able to learn about “things you’d …
