Begining in 2008, additional information was added to the handbook regarding SCA's cell phone policy.
CELL PHONES AND OTHER COMMUNICATION DEVICES
Because the improper use of cellular phones, pagers, beepers and other communication devices disrupt the learning environment on campus, students may not use any communication devices during school hours. These items must be turned off and not visible or audible during school hours. Cell phones and communication devices will be confiscated and an automatic detention issued when they are seen or heard during school hours.
Violating the policy a second time will again result in an automatic detention and a required meeting held with the student, parent or guardian, and the Dean of Student Affairs. A third violation of the policy will result in the student serving one day of in-school suspension. The school reserves the right to review the call and texting history of these devices when collected.
A phone is available in the main office for emergency use. The school recommends that students not carry cell phones on their person but that they secure them in their book-bag, locker, or car.
