Camp St. Cecilia Registration

Grades: 1 - 4          Time: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

During this camp girls experience the basics of clay by learning a number of hand-building techniques, such as: pinching forms, coil building, slab construction, and more. Students will have the opportunity to make a number of clay projects that will be painted, glazed, and fired. All projects will teach the student’s about form, decoration, and how to create texture.

This camp focuses on a week filled with fashion, beauty, pampering, dancing, and crafts. There’s also a pajama party, a movie day, and camp fashion show. The goal is to have some fun being a GIRL!

Camp will be held from Monday – Thursday (Friday will be a rain date) Minimum of 8 Campers Required All levels are welcome. Beginners will learn the fundamentals for all strokes, including proper grips, stroke mechanics, footwork, movement and balance. Introduce match play. Intermediate players will strengthen strokes for power and control. Examine match play strategies to improve competitive skills.

Have you ever looked at your recycling items and thought, “I could do something with that?” The artsy divas will create handmade projects and mixed media art pieces reusing items such as cereal boxes, meat trays, scrap papers, and much more. At the end of the week we will premiere the work in an art show. Come bring out the artsy diva in you!

We will take the campers on various day long activities around Nashville (example one day we will go to Nashville Shores).

Students will learn about and experiment with various media including drawing pencils, charcoal, colored pencils, watercolor, and acrylic painting techniques. Instruction will range from still-life to figural to landscape. Students will also travel outside with the instructor to find attractive outdoor landscapes where campers will work outside with easels and enjoy an afternoon snack. Concepts emphasized will include light and shadow, perspective, and composition.

Come have a great time exploring a variety of 2-dimensional art such as pencil, sharpie, oil, pastel, charcoal, watercolor, tempera, and acrylic to learn about line, value, balance, perspective, and new techniques using these materials. Students will produce a variet of art works inspired by artists, books, and their imaginations.

Each day is an introduction in performing arts. Students will learn creative ways of using their imagination in theatre with costumes, music, and role play.

The focus will be on hand building functional pottery with a short introduction to the wheel.

Artists through the ages have created masterpieces using mixed media and printmaking. In this camp, young artists will explore various media to create works including collage, printmaking, oil, pastel, watercolor, charcoal, india ink, various papers, and much more. You will also be introduced to various printmaking methods such as monotypes, texture prints, and relief printmaking.

The camp will work on developing the player as a whole. We will work on a range of skills all the way from the basic fundamentals to the players’ mental awareness and understanding of the game. It will be a combination of drills, small sided games, and scrimmages.

Who did it? Solve a murder mystery using forensic science. You will use the science of chemistry to observe and trace various evidence from foot prints to synthetic blood analysis. You will even learn how to make your own synthetic blood! Come join the team and bring your imagination to help solve the crime!

This camp will focus on the fundamentals of basketball. Campers will be given an opportunity to improve their skill level (ball handling, shooting, defense, team play, etc) and get game experience.

Limit 30 students. Participants will learn the art of applying stage make-up from the popular musicals such as Wicked ("Elphaba"/"Ozians"), Bye, Bye Birdie ("Teens"), 42nd Street ("Glam Girls"), and Cats ("Cats"). Participants will also perform scores/songs/dances from these popular musicals (and others) and present a showcase for friends and family at the end of the week. Be a rising star on the SCA stage.

You must bring your own digital camera Young artists will explore the world of digital photography through lessons using Adobe Photoshop Elements. You will be taught the fundamentals of using a digital camera as well as techniques to produce beautiful photographs. During the camp, the photographers will create a portfolio of their work to present on the last day of camp. A working digital camera with USB cord is required for this camp

This camp is designed for girls who want to experience the fundamentals of ballet, jazz and tap. They will learn basic steps and dance routines in ballet, jazz and tap throughout the week. Parent viewing will be allowed on Fridaym the last day of the camp.

The Elementary All-Sports Camp will introduce the young ladies to three sports: Volleyball, Soccer, and Basketball. The camps will teach basic age appropriate skills, game techniques, and allow for game play. The Camps will be coached by the varsity staff at SCA.

Camp will be run by SCA volleyball coaching staff, as well as a group of SCA student-athletes.

Scrapbooking is fun and creative hobby to record all your memories from school, family, and friends. Adults and children alike have found this hobby rewarding when they have a display of their favorite times in a book. In this camp you will learn layout designs, collage techniques, journaling tips, and other techniques to create your very own scrapbook of memories. Campers should bring their own photographs, memorabilia, and other treasures to use in the scrapbooks.

Uncover the magic of science each day with your own experiments. Build a colorful erupting volcano, mix and fizz to make soda, save an egg from disaster, and even make your own magnet. Come explore what makes science a blast!
