Camp St. Cecilia is a summer program designed for your incoming 1st - 8th grade daughter to experience some of the learning opportunities St. Cecilia has to offer. We are offering week long sessions in visual arts, basketball, soccer, volleyball, drama, and much more!
Camp sessions are offered from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm or from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. The cost is approximately $75 - $100 for half day camps or $150 - $200 for both sessions or full day programs. If campers stay for both sessions, they will need to bring a sack lunch.

Week of June 2
Pottery for Young Girls
Date: June 2 - June 5
Time: 9:00 am - noon
Age: Rising 1st - 4th graders, limited to 25 students
Cost: $90.00 for class, $40.00 for materials fee
Director: Ann Ripley, Overbrook art teacher, graduated from University of Colorado with a bachelor of
fine arts concentration in printmaking and painting and Teachers College Columbia University with a masters
in art education.
Description: During this camp girls experience the basics of clay by learning a variety of clay building
techniques: pinching clay into a form, building clay with coils, slab construction, how to slip and
score, and even how to use the pottery wheel. Students will have the opportunity to make a
number of small clay projects ranging from bowls with texture to fish and a pitcher. All projects
will teach the students about form, decoration and ways to create texture.
Middle School Girls Tennis
Date: June 2 - June 5
Time: 9:00 am - noon
Age: For rising 4th - 8th graders, limited to 8 players
Cost: $90.00
Director: Helen Neuhoff, SCA assistant tennis coach, competes in USTA and NALTA leagues.
Description: Tennis for all levels of play will be featured. The camp is limited to the first 8 players in order to
give each player a lot of individual attention. Come out and make tennis your game for life!
Painting and Drawing for Young Girls

Description: Come have a great time exploring a variety of drawing and painting media such as pencil, Sharpie, oil pastel, charcoal, watercolor, tempera, and acrylic to learn about line, value, balance, perspective, and new techniques using these materials. Students will produce a variety of art works inspired by artists, books, and their imaginations.

Creative Clay for Middle School Girls

years and has her masters in education from Belmont University. She is an instructor at the Watkins College of
Art and Design, in the Young Artist Program and Continuing Education Department.
Description: Do you want to have more time to explore the fun of creating art pieces out of clay? This summer session will investigate the excitement of clay hand building and explore new sculpture techniques. Campers’ pieces will be painted with beautiful, bright under-glazes, glazed and fired in a kiln. Come enjoy the fun of creating art this summer and make new friends. The final day will include a celebration of art created by the campers in the St. Cecilia Gallery with an art opening and refreshments.
Polaroid Transfer Camp for Middle School Girls

Director: Libby Goldammer, SCA fine arts teacher, graduated from Xavier University with a bachelor of
arts, concentration in painting and drawing. In her free time she enjoys working on her own artwork,
particularly oil paintings and pastel/pencil drawings.
Description: Come learn the exciting, fun technique of transferring slide images to Polaroid film. Two types of transfer will be explored along with creating Cyanotypes on paper and fabric. This is a new camp being offered by St. Cecilia art faculty and will fill up quickly. The last day will include a gallery opening with snacks and all new works of camper art on display.

fun of charcoal, pastels, pencils, acrylic paint, and oil pastels. The final day will include a celebration of
art created by the campers in the St. Cecilia Gallery with an art opening and refreshments.
Fun with Printmaking for Middle School Girls

CSI - Science Camp for Middle School Girls
Date: June 16 - 20
Time: 9:00 am - noon
Age: For rising 5th - 8th graders, limited to 30 students
Cost: $90.00 camp fee, $40.00 materials fee
Director: Karen Deal, M.D., is an SCA anatomy & physiology teacher. Dr. Deal is trained in pathology.
Do you want to be an amateur CSI? Then CSI – Science Camp is for you. You will learn how to
lift and analyze fingerprints. We will study blood splatter patterns (with fake blood you make!)
and use the microscope for hair and fiber analysis. You will isolate DNA and learn how it is used in
profiling a suspect. Near the end of the week, you will analyze and collect evidence from a “mini”
crime scene and obtain enough evidence to identify the “perp.” Parents: all content in this course is
age-appropriate. No real blood or bodily fluids will be handled by the campers.

Behind the Mask: Middle School Drama

Director: Cathie Correia Stamps & Jennifer Alexander.
Mrs. Stamps, the chair of the SCA Fine Arts Department, was named the Tennessee Association of Independent Schools Hubert Smothers Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2007 and directed the SCA production of Beauty and the Beast, which was named Tennessee’s Best High School Musical by USA Today in 2007. She has taught for 28 years and holds a bachelor’s degree from State University of New York.
Ms. Alexander is an SCA English teacher, forensic coach and dance choreographer. She holds a bachelors from Stony Brook University and a masters from Adelphi University.
Description: This opportunity to shine on the SCA stage is for any student who is looking for additional
creative outlets for her artistic talents or for the student desiring to try something outside of the
box for fun. The class will include stage movement, mask making, skit writing (which can
include acting, dancing, and singing) and performance for an audience. The student will learn
movement skills for the stage and the steps for writing a script. The student will make a mask
from plaster (using her own face as the mold). She will then build up the mask to represent
whatever character she wishes to portray. The student will then decorate the mask using acrylic
paint, feathers, sequins, etc. Together the class will write skits that portray the characters
represented. We will present the skits for an audience on the last day of class. Pictures will be
taken for a remembrance.
Elementary All-Sports Camp

Before coming to SCA, Coach Landers coached the girls at Pleasant View Christian Academy in Middle Tennessee to a state basketball championship, and the boys at Tri-Cities in Northeast Tennessee to a state championship. Emily Marcouiller is an SCA soccer coach and former UNLV soccer player. Maggie Kuyper is the SCA
volleyball coach and former Gardner-Webb University & Belmont University volleyball player.
Description: This camp is designed to give the younger camper an opportunity to experience the fun of basketball, volleyball, and soccer, all in the same week. They will be introduced to the basic fundamental skills of each sport, and they will be given the chance to compete and use the skills they are taught each day.

will include a Japanese tea ceremony with an art opening in the St. Cecilia Gallery.

Middle School Girls Soccer
Date: July 14 - 18
Time: 9:00 a.m. - noon
Age: For rising 4th - 8th graders
Cost: $90 per camper

Description: This camp is designed for players to learn the fundamental skills of soccer. Dribbling, passing,
and receiving drills will be the main focus. Players will get the opportunity to use these skills in
small sided games. Each player is required to bring their own soccer ball.
