Intelligent planning, an open mind, personal assessment and an organized search are essential for a sound choice, a choice that maximizes opportunities and offers the highest possibility for personal satisfaction and growth. The responsibility for these tasks rests primarily with the student, but others can and should be involved. Parents, counselors, teachers and friends,we all partner in the effort.
St Cecilia’s College Counseling Office offers a variety of services beginning with general information, targeted group sessions, a specially prepared handbook, and gentle encouragement for the final details of decision making. It is our belief that there are many college “matches” for each student and that it is our role to facilitate the discovery of these matches.
It is our goal to:
Help the student identify appropriate and challenging college choices over a broad geographic area that will best meet her needs, ambitions and interests;
Assist students through all aspects of the application, scholarship and financial aid processes;
Direct students to resources for personal research and provide information that is helpful to navigating the process;
Prepare individualized recommendations and other required secondary school materials necessary to support the application package;
Communicate the strength of the SCA program through aggressive marketing and personal campus visits, and
Advocate to colleges on the student’s behalf within the context of her experiences and accomplishments.
