College planning begins in the junior year, when each Saint Cecilia student meets with our college counselor to begin identifying a particular application process tailored to the individual interests of the student. Students are assisted through a college search process and encouraged to meet with visiting college representatives.
In the senior year, the college application process is addressed in a comprehensive fashion. Information sessions are conducted for the students, including panel discussions by local college admission counselors, presentations by admissions officers from selective colleges, and visits from SCA alumnae to give the current students a more personal view of the college experience.
Information evenings are also arranged for the parents. A college admissions officer takes the senior parents through the application process. A separate presentation is given to provide information on financial aid opportunities. At any time during the process, parents are encouraged to meet with the college counselor for any questions or particular concerns.
