St. Cecilia Academy 150th Anniversary 1860 - 2010
As I’m sure it is for all of you, my memories of St. Cecilia are among the most cherished. Cherished because all the good results that followed are indebted to the superior education I received at that convent academy on that north Nashville hill so long ago. I could go on for pages about all I learned there and how it helped me throughout my life. But, above all, the most important lesson the sisters of St. Cecilia taught me is the meaning and magnitude of love."

During the Christmas season, the Sodality would gather clothes, toys and food and take them to the underpriviledged areas of Nashville. One of the SCA sisters was in each car. Sr. Mary Evelyn was in my car and we went to an older lady's home who was bedridden. Her house was cold and she was under a lot of blankets. All she wanted from us was boots for her son who was fighting in Vietnam. We didn't have any so she asked us to sing a Christmas carol for her. We tried our best but our tears made it difficult. I can still see her face."

My favorite memories are about Spirit Week. Each class competed against each other. We had to perform part of a musical. This took lots of practice but the class really came together. I remember senior year we sang the song "Somewhere" and most of us were in tears by the end! We also would have a dance. One time it was a sock hop. Some girls dressed as boys. I think there are pictures in the annual. We also would go sunbathe on the air conditioners behind the fences. That was funny.
