St. Cecilia Academy 150th Anniversary 1860 - 2010
"The golden thread that binds us together, and that has sustained each of us through loss, change and family tragedies, is our faith. St. Cecilia Academy gave us the courage to use that faith and go confidently into this world to make a difference."
— Nancy Shepherd Lesser,'79
St. Cecilia Academy alumnae have made their mark in the world from breaking glass ceilings in the Nashville banking business to becoming the first female valedictorian at the University of Notre Dame. St. Cecilia has more than 2300 living alumnae and an active alumnae board. The board, together with the director of alumnae relations, plans events throughout the year for alumnae of all ages.
Some of the annual alumnae events include business networking evenings, the Memorial Mass, a character tea before the SCA fall musicals, Vespers, Homecoming, the Easter Egg Hunt and the luncheon. This year, 233 alumnae returned to SCA for the 104th annual alumnae luncheon. Ten class reunions were held in 2009.
